How and Where We Put Our Funds to Work!

How We Invest Our Funds for Impact: Helping Families and Raising Awareness

Since 2011, Rett Syndrome Angels (RSAM) has been dedicated to raising funds through various events and initiatives, with the Boston Marathon serving as our primary funding source from 2011 to 2023. We are incredibly grateful to Team Rett (Marathon Teams) and their supporters who have contributed to our mission over the years.

In addition to the Boston Marathon, RS Angels has also participated in the Falmouth Road Race, where participants and supporters have played a key role in furthering our fundraising efforts. We’ve hosted community-focused events like Rett Night at Fenway Park, Family Woosox Game Day, Rett Camp, Equine Experience, and the Kevin Black BBQ, all bringing people together for fun and a cause. Our most beloved events include the Annual Family Picnics and the Annual Blue Sky Day celebration and lunch, and we’re proud to offer these family events free of charge or for a minimal fee.

RS Angels is proud to be the first organization to offer scholarships for siblings of individuals with Rett Syndrome, supporting their dreams and career aspirations in any field. Our Angel Fund, launched during the challenges of COVID, continues to provide assistance to families in need, from offering meals during difficult times to sharing special gifts like Squishmallows to bring joy and comfort.

We are deeply appreciative of the donations we’ve received, including those made in memory or honor of loved ones.

Looking ahead, RS Angels invites new partnerships and fundraising ideas to continue expanding our reach and impact. Whether through donations, partnerships, or events, we are excited to make an even greater difference together.

Educational Programs for Families and Professionals
RS Angels has offered impactful educational programs, including RettEdDay, held in collaboration with Boston Children’s Hospital and the International Rett Syndrome Foundation; local workshops on communication with Girl Power 2 Cure and Rett University; and various webinars and meetings to support families and caregivers.

Supporting Families with Rett Ready Kits
RS Angels is introducing in 2025 “Rett Ready Kits”—specially designed bags for families beginning to navigate a Rett Syndrome diagnosis. Given at the Rett Clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital, these kits contain helpful resources, practical tools, and thoughtful items to offer comfort and support.

How We Use Our Funds to Make an Impact
RS Angels is committed to supporting research that helps find treatments and a cure for Rett Syndrome. We’ve contributed to clinical trials and research at Boston Children’s Hospital’s Rett Syndrome Program from its inception and continue to maintain a strong partnership. In 2019, we also supported the Boston Rett History Study Program through the International Rett Syndrome Foundation’s Clinical Network initiative.

We work alongside the Boston Children’s Hospital, Rett Syndrome Research Trust, and the International Rett Syndrome Foundation to support research projects in Massachusetts, including at Boston Children’s Hospital, MIT, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. We are committed to supporting aggressive research efforts to advance the understanding and treatment of Rett Syndrome.

RS Angels’ Impact on Research and Clinical Trials
Our contributions to laboratory research and clinical trials is fast approaching $1 million! These efforts include supporting the Rettland Foundation to aid families participating in clinical trials.
