Whether you’re new to the communication journey\, need a refresher\, or just want to join the fun—this day is for you. I will have fun with friends. When I arrive\, we will do scratch art and hair fun activities. The helpers are nice and will take care of me. I can communicate with them using my AAC device\, communication board\, or in my own way. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n📷 Picture Time\n\n\n\nWe will walk to the ocean to take a group photo. I can see the beautiful water. I can be in the picture with my friends\, or I can choose to watch from nearby. I can tell the helpers what I want using my communication device or board. Both choices are great. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🔍 Scavenger Hunt Teams\n\n\n\nThe helpers will make teams for a scavenger hunt. I will be on a team with other campers. My team will help me look for special things. I can use my AAC device to share ideas with my team. We will work together and have fun. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🍎 Lunch Time\n\n\n\nTime to eat! The RS Angels will bring snacks and food for lunch. I can eat what I like and leave what I don’t want. I can tell helpers about my food preferences using my communication device. There will be a comfortable place to sit and eat. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n💦 Splash Attack\n\n\n\nAfter lunch\, we play with water in an activity called “Splash Attack.” I can use my AAC device to tell helpers if I want to get wet and play in the water\, or if I prefer to watch my friends play. The helpers will keep everyone safe and respect my choices. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🏖️ Beach Fun Time\n\n\n\nThis is my free time at the beach! I can touch the sand\, look for pretty shells\, or just sit and watch the waves. I can communicate my choices using my AAC device or communication board. I choose what feels good for me. The helpers will stay close by and understand how I communicate. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n👋 Time to Go Home\n\n\n\nAt the end of our fun day\, it’s time to say goodbye. I will pack up my things and say goodbye to my new friends and helpers using my communication device\, AAC board\, or however I like to communicate. DESCRIPTION:A great opportunity for your child to exercise\, socialize and have FUN! \n\n\n\nThis wonderful swim program for our Rett community began in 2016 under the leadership of Dr. Michela Fagiolini. Over the years the program has grown and expanded. The sessions are presently held at Blodgett Pool at Harvard University. The volunteer coaches are members of the Harvard Varsity Swimming and Diving Team or another Crimson Aquatics team and they are passionate about sharing their love of the water with others. \n\n\n\nParticipants of all ages are welcome. DESCRIPTION:FAMILY PICNIC @ Spec Pond \n\n\n\nDATE: SATURDAY AUGUST 19TH\, 2023 \n\n\n\nAUG 10th deadline to RSVP \n\n\n\nLOCATION: 2540 Boston Post Road (Post Office Park)\, Wilbraham MA 01095 \n\n\n\nTIME: Family arrival 11-2pm (you can come stay for full day or part of the day) \n\n\n\nCOST: $4.00 per person for additional tickets- RSAngels will pay for 4 tickets per family. \n\n\n\nLUNCH: Families are asked to bring their own lunch for their families \n\n\n\n*RS Angels will be providing desserts (dietary restrictions are considered) and drinks* \n\n\n\nDIRECTIONS: Once you get off the Mass pike (Ludlow or Palmer) it’s about 25 minutes from that exit to arrive at Spec Pond. It’s in the same plaza as our YMCA in Wilbraham. When you are facing the YMCA-(the building with faces)-turn RIGHT.  You are now entering Spec Pond. Go straight til you hit the playground: turn LEFT. We are all the way at the end on the right-the only Pavillon spot \n\n\n\nPLACES TO STAY: if you need a place to stay The Holiday Inn Express\, Ludlow MA- is right off the pike  and it’s clean\, affordable and accessible for all! It would be about 10 minutes from our event. \n\n\n\nADDITIONAL INFORMATION: only Service dogs welcomed\, therapy dogs will be asked to leave by the park staff. no alcohol allowed at any time\,  \n\n\n\nThis spectacular picnic is going to be like no other picnic\, a low-key get together for time to become even more acquainted!  But with lots to do!! There will be corn hole\, music\, volleyball\, a small beach front (roll up only wheelchair to water)\, splash pad\, and accessible park. We will not have access to the basketball or other fields surrounding our reserved space. We will be under our own pavilion all together\, with access to a kitchen with a refrigerator (please mark your items if needed to use it). And an accessible bathroom right under the pavillion. Spec pond water and splash pad is fenced off allowing for assurance of safety-wanderers will be safe always. We can’t wait to see you!  \n\n\n\nOnly for families living in the New England states \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis incredible group has done it again! Making a generous contribution to the Family Picnic in Wilbraham and will be attending this event with us! Santa will read a nondenominational story and a Christmas story. Everyone will sing with Santa and have a chance to ask him questions with in the hour on December 22nd at 7:00pm (eastern standard time). DESCRIPTION:We have been seeing a lot of talk by families on different forums about cannabis\, it’s a topic that is not fully understood nor much information is out there for Rett Syndrome. Our hope at Rett Syndrome Angels is to help with that.  So many variants\, so many unknowns\, what is the difference between CBD oil versus THC? How to find the balance? \n\n\n\n Let’s look at the word “endocannabinoid.” “Cannabinoid” comes from “cannabis\,” and “endo” is short for “endogenous\,” which means that it is produced naturally inside of our body. So “endocannabinoid” simply means cannabis-like substances that naturally occur inside us. Confused? Us too\, until we met The Green Nurse! Sherri Tutkus\, RN\, BSN and Co-Founder from the The Green Nurse will be providing information on approved products\, services and the importance of finding synergy within the endocannabinoid system in our bodies. Hear about the endocannabinoid system and cannabinoid therapeutics and how they relate to Rett syndrome. In this virtual session there will be time for questions from our families.
